Old railway tunnel, Karlskrona, Sweden
11 December 2025 to 15 February 2026
The old railway tunnel in Karlskrona is a robust space of granite, marked by layers of time, and its own world where darkness is the natural inhabitant. The tunnel holds a special potential. Here, light can create magic.
UNDERWORLD is a light installation that depicts an imaginary underwater world or underwater settlement. It highlights the fragility of the marine environment through encounters between light and darkness, art and architecture, city and sea, cultural heritage and mysterious places. The installation’s soft light forms and architectural expression are accompanied by a soundscape by the Argentine composer Leonel Kaplan, in which sounds from the sea and the city are interwoven.
UNDERWORLD in Karlskrona was created as a collaboration between Konst i Blekinge / Region Blekinge and the Municipality of Karlskrona.
