Kuvarica (Cook) is folklore art, commonly found on the Balkan countryside. These embroideries traditionally show family scenes and give good advices for the successful housewives. Kuvarica used to decorate kitchen walls of every rural home during the 18th and 19th century. This tradition, like many other crafts, now belongs to the past.
For the Urban Forest project I have created a special form of "photo album" by combining almost forgotten and time consuming handcraft with the quick snapshots from fast flowing everyday life. In this project I have been collaborated with skilful craft women from Serbian villages.
Collection Make This Moment Last was shown at Urban Forest exhibitions at Claska Gallery, Tokyo and De Gallery, Osaka (2010).
